Cambridge attractions

Cambridge is just an hour from London and has many sights having had a religious settlement and academic learning in town since the 11th century, and now one of the most famous in the world. There are 31 colleges, the most well known being King’s College, Corpus Christi and Magdalene College. Take a tour of the college buildings and walk along the “Backs” of the colleges.

Why not try punting on the River Cam which you can either try yourself (watch first) or hire a "chauffeur". The buildings of St John’s College are linked by the beautiful Bridge of Sighs. Look out for the Grasshopper Clock on the corner of Corpus Taylor Library, and enjoy the charm of the University Botanical Gardens.

Listen to the choir at Kings College, particularly special at Christmas, and see King’s which was founded by Henry VIII. At the Fitzwilliam Museum there are works from Titian and Handel’s bookcase containing many of his manuscripts. Why not hire a bike and ride around Cambridge like many of the students. Just outside Cambridge Audley End House has gardens designed by Capability Brown. The charming village of Grantchester was home to the war poet Rupert Brooke and a beautiful walk links the village with the centre of Cambridge.
